Carolus-Brunnen
Carolus-Brunnen, Frankfurt'un Sachsenhausen semtindeki Wendelsplatz'ta bulunan ve sanat kategorisinde yer alan bir heykeldir. Eser, sanatçı Fritz Boehle'nin Şarlman'ı betimleyen kamusal çalışmasıdır.
Boehle, insanları, hayvanları ve özellikle atları çizen Alman ressam, desinatör ve heykeltıraş olarak tanınır. Boehle, Frankfurt'taki Städelsches Kunstinstitut'ta kapsamlı sanat eğitimi aldı.
Sanatçı, 1873'te Emmendingen'de doğdu ve kısa süre sonra ailesiyle Frankfurt'a taşındı. Albrecht Dürer'in eserleri, onun sanat anlayışını etkiledi.
Carolus-Brunnen, 1928'de yeni Main Köprüsü'nü süslemesi planlanan anıtsal çeşme tasarımı olarak ortaya çıktı. Köprü projesi gerçekleşmedi ve yalnızca plastilin model korundu.
Binding Brewery, heykeli 1965'te demirden döktürerek Sachsenhausen'deki yönetim binasının önüne yerleştirdi. Eser, 1976'da bugünkü yeri olan Wendelsplatz'a taşındı.
Çeşme artık su akıtmaz, ancak toprakla dolu havuzunda bitkiler büyür. Carolus adı, Binding Brewery'nin güçlü birasının etiketinde de kullanıldı.
Heykelin kaydı, mekânın tekerlekli sandalye erişimine uygun olduğunu belirtir. Boehlepark ile Sachsenhausen'deki Boehle adını taşıyan cadde, sanatçının Frankfurt'taki izlerini sürdürür.
