Carolus-Brunnen
Carolus-Brunnen står ved Wendelsplatz i Sachsenhausen i Frankfurt og hører til byens offentlige kunst. Den er skabt af kunstneren Fritz Boehle, som virkede i Frankfurt. Figuren forestiller Karl den Store og blev oprindeligt tænkt som et monument ved den nye Mainbro. Den oprindelige plan blev aldrig gennemført som tænkt. Kunstværket skulle have prydet broen som modstykke til en anden rytterstatue af den samme kejser. Kun en plastilinmodel blev tilbage, før statuen senere blev støbt i jern og opstillet i Sachsenhausen. Den står fortsat ved Wendelsplatz i Sachsenhausen. Det tidligere bassin rummer jord, hvor planter vokser, fordi springvandet ikke længere sender vand ud. Selve kunststedet er registreret som tilgængeligt for kørestolsbrugere. Boehle arbejdede i en traditionel stil med mennesker, dyr og især heste som motiver. Han studerede ved Städelsches Kunstinstitut og lod sig inspirere af Albrecht Dürer. Carolus blev også navn på en stærkøl fra Binding-bryggeriet. Statuens historie viser, hvordan et urealiseret broprojekt fandt en plads i Frankfurts byrum.
