Mühle am Wall

Mühle am Wall is a windmill in Bremen, Germany, standing in a city park on the grounds of former fortifications. Its eight-sided base, four shuttered sails and vane-steered cap identify the Galerieholländer design.

The present structure dates from 1898, after earlier mills on this site were destroyed by fire and rebuilt several times. Flour was ground here until 1947, while the heritage-listed building now houses a restaurant serving Bremen dishes such as labskaus and knipp.

Wallanlagen surrounds the mill with flower meadows in spring and trees in autumn, making the sails a memorable sight through the seasons. Five historic windmills survive in Bremen, and this one lets you pair a park walk with coffee or a meal inside.
