Ponte di Rialto
Ponte di Rialto v Benátkach preklenuje Canal Grande v jeho najužšom mieste. Ako najstarší zo štyroch mostov spája obchodnú štvrť Rialto s politickým centrom San Marco. Kamenný oblúk vedie ponad hlavnú vodnú tepnu mesta.
Prvý priechod tu vznikol okolo roku 1173 ako plávajúci pontónový most Ponte della Moneta. V roku 1255 ho nahradil drevený most s dvoma rampami a zdvíhateľnou strednou časťou pre vysoké lode. Po požiaroch a zrúteniach vznikol návrh trvalejšej stavby, ktorý mesto zverilo Antoniovi da Ponte. Stavba dnešného kamenného mosta prebiehala v rokoch 1588 až 1591. Tisíce drevených pilót držia jeho opory v mäkkom naplavenom podloží.
Dve kryté rampy stúpajú k centrálnemu portiku a lemujú ich rady obchodov. Z vrcholu vidíš Canal Grande v oboch smeroch. Jeden oblúk meria približne 28 metrov a dosahuje výšku 7,5 metra, takže pod ním prechádzajú aj vodné autobusy.
