Ponte di Rialto
A Ponte di Rialto atravessa o Grande Canal, em Veneza, ligando os bairros de San Marco e San Polo. É a mais antiga das quatro pontes que cruzam a principal via aquática da cidade. Seu arco único de pedra se eleva sobre a água, enquanto rampas cobertas conduzem a um pórtico central. Fileiras de lojas acompanham os dois lados e mantêm uma tradição comercial iniciada no século XV.
A primeira travessia surgiu por volta de 1173 como uma ponte flutuante, substituída por uma estrutura de madeira em 1255. Depois de incêndios e desabamentos, Antonio da Ponte projetou a versão atual, construída entre 1588 e 1591. Milhares de estacas de madeira sustentam os apoios sobre o solo aluvial e distribuem o peso do arco. Durante séculos, essa passagem conectou o mercado de Rialto ao centro político de San Marco e foi a única travessia fixa do Grande Canal. Do pórtico, você vê o canal em duas direções, com barcos e ônibus aquáticos passando sob a pedra.
