Ponte di Rialto
פונטה די ריאלטו חוצה את התעלה הגדולה בנקודה הצרה ביותר שלה, בלב ונציה. זהו הגשר העתיק ביותר מבין ארבעת הגשרים הקבועים החוצים את התעלה הגדולה. שתי רמפות מקורות עולות אל אכסדרה מרכזית, ובצדיהן נמשכות שורות של חנויות. מן האכסדרה נשקף נתיב המים לשני הכיוונים, בעוד שסירות ואוטובוסי המים עוברים מתחת לקשת.
המעבר הראשון במקום היה גשר פונטונים שנבנה בסביבות 1173, ליד מרכז המטבעה העתיק. בשנת 1255 החליף אותו גשר עץ, שחיבר את שוק ריאלטו עם המרכז הפוליטי בסן מרקו. שריפות וקריסות בשנים 1310, 1444 ו־1524 הובילו לבסוף לבניית גשר אבן בתכנונו של אנטוניו דה פונטה. הבנייה נמשכה בין 1588 ל־1591, והמבנה נשען על אלפי כלונסאות עץ שננעצו בקרקע הסחף הרכה.
קשת האבן מתנשאת לגובה שבעה וחצי מטרים ומשתרעת על פני 28 מטרים. בעבר היה זה המעבר הקבוע היחיד להולכי רגל מעל התעלה הגדולה, ולכן הוא חיבר במשך מאות שנים בין המסחר, השלטון והחיים היומיומיים בעיר.
