Giữa trung tâm Stuttgart, ngay trước Kleine Haus của Nhà hát Bang Württemberg, bạn sẽ gặp Bewegung II, bức điêu khắc trừu tượng bằng thép không gỉ của nghệ sĩ người Vienna Wander Bertoni. Khối thép của nó dài tám mét, rộng và cao bốn mét, hiện diện rõ giữa không gian công cộng. Bertoni muốn nén ý niệm trừu tượng về chuyển động vào chính hình khối mà mắt bạn nhìn thấy.
Bertoni phác thảo bố cục này trong giai đoạn 1960 đến 1961. Tác phẩm ra mắt công chúng đúng dịp Bundesgartenschau, triển lãm vườn hoa liên bang, năm 1961. Stuttgart khi ấy đưa nó vào không gian công cộng như hình tượng trừu tượng đầu tiên của thành phố. Lựa chọn đó mang theo một thông điệp: thành phố muốn tự giới thiệu là nơi quốc tế và cởi mở. Vermögen und Bau Baden-Württemberg, cơ quan quản lý tài sản và xây dựng của bang, đứng tên chủ sở hữu.
Bức tượng thuộc về nỗ lực rộng hơn của Stuttgart nhằm đưa nghệ thuật vào đời sống hằng ngày, để ai đi ngang cũng thưởng thức được thay vì chỉ trong bảo tàng. Kể từ buổi ra mắt năm 1961, nó đứng nguyên trước nhà hát. Chuyển động vốn vô hình, nhưng tại nơi này nó hiện hình trong thép không gỉ, chờ người đi ngang.
