De Beukelaer
In Belgium, De Beukelaer appears in the architecture category and connects a distillery with the Elixir d’Anvers. François Xavier de Beukelaer created the liqueur in 1863.
His golden herbal blend joined herbs and plants gathered from across the world, creating a recipe remembered for its distinctive flavour. The secret recipe remains unchanged across the tradition.
On 19 March, François completed the mixture at two o’clock in the morning, using herbs and plants from distant regions. That mixture became the golden Elixir d’Anvers liqueur.
Demand grew, so the distillery moved several times before settling in a purpose-built facility for larger orders. Several distillery moves followed as demand increased.
Each batch follows the original recipe, and every bottle carries the flavour associated with earlier generations. Ivan Nolet de Brauwere continues the family legacy.
The De Beukelaer bottle links Belgian distilling, family stewardship, and a herbal recipe to a nineteenth-century origin. Its name still identifies the Elixir d’Anvers.
