Jagdschloss Friedrichsthal

Jagdschloss Friedrichsthal stands in Schwerin as a two-storey half-timbered hunting lodge from 1790. Its main building carries a hipped roof, central dormer, and two semicircular wings added in 1798. Across the street, two single-storey half-timbered cavalier houses complete the historic setting.

Friedrich Franz I of Mecklenburg bought the property in 1797 and adapted it for hunting in game-rich surroundings. The lodge later sheltered soldiers, war orphans, tuberculosis patients, and residents of a retirement home. It stood empty from 1993, while restoration plans proposed residential apartments after later sales in 2010 and 2017.

The surrounding park once reached Neumühler See, but sections disappeared in 1945 and later gave way to houses. Inside, the wallpaper La chasse à Compiègne showed a courtly red-deer hunt and now hangs at Jagdschloss Friedrichsmoor. A park memorial stone commemorates Karl Axel von Monroy, who died in 1915.
