Panteón Bolín Rein
The Panteón Bolín Rein is a family mausoleum in the Cementerio de San Miguel in Málaga. How did two families from northern Europe come to share one mausoleum? The Bolín family traces its roots to Sweden, and the Rein family to Germany. The building blends local and foreign elements, a mixture that runs through many of the city's historic sites.
The Bolín story begins with Juan Bolín Kruse, a merchant from Gothenburg who married Teresa Preyre d'Antoine. The couple had six children, and the family made its mark on local history. On the Rein side, Juan Guillermo Rein was born in Dahme in Saxony and arrived in the city in the eighteenth century. He married Ana Catalina Nagel Medina, and their descendants remained prominent in the community. One of them, Guillermo Rein Arssu, served as mayor of Málaga and as a senator of the kingdom.
Among those interred here, you will find two members of the Bolín family. Manuel Bolín was the first husband of Constancia de la Mora, the feminist and republican leader. Luis Bolín Bidwell, a military figure, piloted the famous Dragon Rapide flight.
