Grüne Säule
Grüne Säule is a public sculpture by Alf Setzer, prominently placed in Ulm, Germany. Its vertical form stands within the city’s public space, where art meets the surrounding urban environment.
Born in Betzigau, Kempten, Allgäu, in 1956, Setzer studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Braunschweig. Since 1993, he has taught at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart, developing a practice focused on space, form and the relationship between sculpture and place. This work belongs to a wider group of installations across Germany and beyond, and its setting encourages you to notice how a single form can alter the space around it.
The sculpture forms part of Ulm’s public art landscape and is wheelchair accessible.
