Polaria
Polaria stands beside the quay in Norway, shaped from white angular volumes and tilted glass like broken sea ice. The low northern light catches its metal surfaces. Inside, cooler air, water sounds and distant splashes lead into an Arctic experience centre combining aquarium, museum and science meeting place.
Its seal pool anchors the visit, with bearded seals visible from above, through rounded observation blisters and beneath a transparent tunnel. Training sessions connect animal care with learning. Arctic fish, small sharks and seabed creatures fill surrounding tanks, while some touchable exhibits bring polar life within reach. Panoramic films, including Svalbard Arctic Wilderness, Behind the Scenes and Northern Lights, show changing views of polar landscapes.
Research-based exhibitions explain pollution, food webs and climate change, while wheelchair access and stroller-friendly spaces welcome families and school groups. One view stays especially vivid: a seal gliding inches above your face through the glass blister.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Tromsø. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
myTuur is a free city-guide app. Its tours are built from spots, and each spot carries a story that starts when you get there, to read or to listen to as you like.
