St. Antonius
St. Antonius is a Roman Catholic parish church in Kaltental, within Stuttgart’s Stuttgart-Süd district. Its hall church has a chancel tower north of the nave. The nave has no supports, while longitudinal beams shape the open interior overhead.
Hans Herkommer designed the building, constructed between 1929 and 1932 as a cultural heritage monument. Günter Pfeifer guided its renovation in 2006. A Saint Elizabeth fresco appears beneath the sound arcades on the tower’s western façade. Albert Burkart painted the recessed chancel’s wall painting in 1932.
Madeleine Dietz designed the principal furnishings, while Schmid organ builders created the organ. The parish reaches Schönberg, Birkach, Steckfeld, Chausseefeld, Asemwald, Hohenheim, and Plieningen. Services and groups bring together people from mixed-denomination partnerships around respect, appreciation, and tolerance.
