Siegfried Guttmann

Siegfried Guttmann is commemorated in Stuttgart by a Stolperstein set into the pavement. Its brass plate carries his name and life dates, marking the last place where he lived freely.

German artist Gunter Demnig began the project in 1992, creating a decentralized memorial across Europe. More than one hundred thousand stones remember people persecuted under National Socialism, including Jewish victims, Sinti and Roma, Poles, and others. Each small concrete cube brings an individual history into an ordinary street, where passersby may notice it among their daily surroundings.
