Anna Falk

Anna Falk is a history spot in Germany presenting the Stolpersteine project and its remembrance of victims of Nazi persecution. Artist Gunter Demnig initiated this decentralised memorial project. Its handmade concrete stones carry brass plates with victims’ names and life dates, bringing individual histories into ordinary streets. Each stone marks a last chosen home or workplace. The project honours Jewish victims and other groups persecuted by the Nazis, including Sinti and Romani people, Poles, and homosexuals. It also remembers disabled people and Jehovah’s Witnesses. The stones are intended for chance encounters, allowing passers-by to notice a name while moving through their neighbourhood. Their setting keeps memory close to daily life. The decentralised project extends across Europe and has become a broad memorial network shaped by personal, handmade acts of remembrance. Anna Falk brings this history into Stuttgart’s streets.
