Torre Schindler

Torre Schindler rises on Isla de la Cartuja in Seville, beside the Puente del Cristo de la Expiración. Designed by Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra for the 1992 Universal Exposition, the observation tower reaches about 65 metres, or roughly 18 floors, above the former Expo grounds.

The upper terrace looks across the Guadalquivir River, the Expo site and parts of Seville. Elevators carry visitors from ground level to the top in about 24 seconds, making the rapid ascent central to the experience. Since reopening in 2012, the tower has formed part of the Pabellón de la Navegación, whose exhibitions explore maritime history, navigation and Seville’s relationship with the river.

Backlit signs updated in 2021 add a modern detail to this functional landmark, while the surrounding Isla de la Cartuja brings together Caixaforum Sevilla and the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo.
