Conservatorio Profesional de Danza

Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Antonio Ruiz Soler stands in Seville’s former Argentine Pavilion, built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. Martín Noel designed the building with neobaroque forms and Ibero-American influences, including references to Peruvian and Bolivian traditions. Decorative details give the façade a distinctive blend of Spanish and Latin American character.

After the exposition, the building housed a chair of Hispanic-Colonial American Art, then became the Murillo Secondary Education Institute in 1949. Since 1993, it has supported professional training in flamenco, classical, contemporary and Spanish dance. Students rehearse, perform, audition and enter choreographic competitions, while nearby Guatemala Pavilion provides additional space for activities.

The pavilion was Argentina’s only permanent building among four national pavilions at the exposition. Its history now links international cultural exchange with daily dance classes and rehearsals in Seville.
