Katedralja Krishti Shpëtimtar
Katedralja Krishti Shpëtimtar stands unfinished on the University of Pristina campus in Pristina, Kosovo. Its Serbian Orthodox design rises beside a site originally planned for learning without religious associations.
Construction began in 1992, and the exterior structure reached completion in 1998 before the Kosovo War halted the project in 1999. Bashkim Fehmiu planned the campus in 1973, while Spasoje Krunić designed the church with 1,389 golden crosses referencing the historic Battle of Kosovo.
Vandalism after the war reflects the political and ethnic tensions surrounding the building. Disputes over the land between the University of Pristina and the Serbian Orthodox Church leave its future uncertain.
