Winzerberg
Winzerberg stands in Potsdam opposite Sanssouci Park, as a terraced vineyard within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Potsdam and Berlin. A triumphal gate marks the entrance.
Four terraces climb the hillside, supported by five retaining walls rising about seventeen metres. Their grapes and fruit once supplied the royal court. At the summit, the Winzerhaus presents a Tuscan-style villa designed by Ludwig Ferdinand Hesse in 1849. Christian Ludwig Hildebrandt designed the terraces in the late eighteenth century, while the Bacchus staircase centres on a relief of Bacchus’s head.
After falling into disrepair following the Second World War, the gardens underwent restoration between 2004 and 2017. A local association led the work, which received the Europa Nostra Award in 2018. The Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg now maintains the grounds, where vineyard produce is also available.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Potsdam. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
myTuur is a free city-guide app. Its tours are built from spots, and each spot carries a story that starts when you get there, to read or to listen to as you like.
