Gustave Eiffel
The Gustave Eiffel monument stands at the base of the Eiffel Tower in Paris as a bronze bust. Antoine Bourdelle sculpted the 123-centimetre bronze figure for this monument.
A committee led by General Ferrié helped bring the monument to the tower in 1929, six years after Eiffel's death. The committee formed in 1926 to honour Eiffel's engineering work. His metal structures include the Eiffel Tower, the Nice Observatory dome, and the Statue of Liberty's framework. The bust itself dates from around 1900. Auguste Perret and André Granet designed the stone pedestal beneath it.
That pedestal carries a simple inscription: “Eiffel / 1832–1923”. Stone, bronze, and engraved numerals bring the engineer's work into one compact Parisian view.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Paris. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
myTuur is a free city-guide app. Its tours are built from spots, and each spot carries a story that starts when you get there, to read or to listen to as you like.
