St. Leonhard
St. Leonhard Chapel stands in Eggisried, a part of Ottobeuren in Bavaria’s Unterallgäu district. This Roman Catholic building belongs to the seventeenth or eighteenth century and has protected-monument status. Its elongated interior follows a single window axis towards a semicircular altar room, creating a clear view through the chapel.
Two round windows and a flat ceiling mark that altar space. A four-sided roof turret rises above the gable beneath a tent roof, giving the small building a distinct silhouette. Painted wooden figures bring several periods together, including Saint Christopher from around 1520, a seated Madonna, and a Salvator. Saint Walburga and Saint Leonhard represent the eighteenth century. Softwood pews from the same century accompany paintings showing the Stations of the Cross. The chapel belongs to the group of churches and chapels around Ottobeuren.
