Ilse Neumann
Ilse Neumann is commemorated in Neu-Ulm, where the Neumann family lived before fleeing the Nazi regime. Brass Stolpersteine set into the pavement mark their last residence and connect this street with the history of Holocaust victims.
Born in Ulm on 27 December 1913, Ilse was Emil and Paula Neumann’s youngest child. She emigrated to Chicago in 1937, married there, and lived until 2015, reaching the age of 102.
Each stone bears “Here lived”, followed by a person’s name and fate. The Neumann family stones bring Ilse’s life into the everyday streets of Neu-Ulm, where a small brass plaque preserves an individual story.
