Wohnhaus Blum
Wohnhaus Blum stands on Stollbergstraße in Munich’s Altstadt-Lehel district, presenting a protected residential monument in Maximilian style. Its red brick contrasts with lighter stone. Built in 1857, the house combines German and English Gothic forms with Tudor influences across an ornamented facade. Rectangular windows frame floral motifs across the facade. The central section carries battlements and three window axes, while each side section contains two window axes. Putti represent the seasons in carved decoration. Religious scenes and knight figures extend the program, while rich stone ornament gives the facade its visual weight. City authorities approved the plans in April 1857 after construction had begun without official permission. Minor war damage preceded later preservation and restoration. Restoration took place between 1989 and 1996.
