St. Rupert
St. Rupert stands in Munich’s Schwanthalerhöhe district as a Roman Catholic parish church dedicated to Rupert of Salzburg. Gabriel von Seidl designed the building, whose quatrefoil plan creates a four-leaf-clover shape beneath three distinctive towers. Construction took place from 1901 to 1903, and consecration followed in 1908.
White domes now define the interior after wall paintings disappeared in 1935. Anton Pruska’s renovation from 1964 to 1966 replaced the romantic furnishings with a minimalist arrangement. Nineteen leaded windows by Georg Schönberger, installed around 1965, bring colour through rectangular panes without traditional religious imagery.
The original high altar has gone, but wooden figures of Saint Rupert and the Virgin Mary remain. Hans and Benno Miller created the 1927 Warrior Altar with a terracotta Pietà between Saints George and Barbara. The west dome holds a red marble baptismal font, a plaque commemorating first pastor Georg Reisinger, and Franz Borgias Maerz’s 1905 organ.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Munich. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
