Parco ex OM

Parco ex OM occupies a former industrial site within Parco Bocconi, in Milan, beside Bocconi University. Its setting connects historic city districts with newer urban development.

Heavy mechanical industry operated here through OM Officine Meccaniche, later becoming part of Fiat Iveco before closing. The industrial story reaches back to the late nineteenth century. Christophe Girot reshaped the area as part of the larger Parco delle Memorie Industriali. Practical challenges divided the original plan into separate sections, including this public space. The design opened in 2008 as a park without trees, placing industrial traces at its centre.

A historic crane stands as the clearest reminder of the former works. Children have a dedicated play area, while spontaneous vegetation grows along the canal. Moorhens and mallards use that waterside habitat, adding living detail to this hard-edged landscape.

Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Milan. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.

What is myTuur?
