Jesusparken
Jesusparken is a park in Sweden, with grass, worn paths, benches and a shallow hollow. Afternoon light reaches across the open ground. A proposed monument of stone and bronze would anchor this setting. Its massive stone appears to rise on slender bronze rods, directing your gaze between earth and sky.
The idea took shape in 2019 after racially motivated attacks affected parts of the city between 2003 and 2010. The work creates space for mourning, testimony and civic learning. Beneath the stone, people can place written memories, notes and names in the ground. A participatory process allows remembrance to grow through shared contributions. Bronze catches warm reflections across the grass as the suspended weight turns memory into something visible and tactile.
