Panteón Fazio

Panteón Fazio stands within Cementerio de San Miguel in Málaga, among the cemetery’s historic mausoleums. The family mausoleum carries marble, painted walls, and the memory of several Málaga figures. Inside, mural paintings by Agustín Olguera cover the walls with the work of an artist buried there. The setting connects private family remembrance with Málaga’s wider history.

A crypt came first, topped by a marble cross commemorating Matilde Fazio, who died on 8 December 1854 aged seventeen. That cross remains inside the present structure. Juan Fazio Cárdenas built the mausoleum in the twentieth century after his wife Julia Pérez de Camino Latorre died, while their son Enrique oversaw the construction as an engineering student. Doctors Diego Castro Nuño Juárez and Juan Castro Nuño Fazio, professor Coral Parga Mira, and businessman Francisco Fazio Pérez de Camino also rest here. Olguera drowned at Baños del Carmen in Málaga in 1942, aged thirty-six, leaving his paintings as the most vivid detail within this family memorial.
