Winkelelemente 1981
On Breite Straße in Hanover, Winkelelemente 1981 stands as a public sculpture by Günter Tollmann. Its unequal elements form a flexible, three-dimensional frame.
Movable parts shift the structure into new spaces and shapes, including a cube. Tollmann created the work in 1981, and the Kreissparkasse later donated it to Hanover. Its changing geometry aligns with the urban gallery Kubus at the other end of Breite Straße.
That alignment extends an axis beyond Aegidientorplatz, once marking Hanover’s southern entrance until the eighteenth century. Wind or human interaction can transform the sculpture’s spaces and forms.
