Stahlengel
In Hannover, Stahlengel rises beside the Delticom headquarters as a public sculpture along the city’s Sculpture Walk. Its stainless-steel form reaches twelve metres high and sixteen metres wide. Smooth surfaces and geometric lines give the structure a dynamic outline against the urban surroundings. Wheelchair access makes this urban artwork reachable for visitors.
Erich Hauser created the sculpture in 1987, continuing his exploration of form and balance through steel. Hauser was born in 1930 in Rietheim. The walk began in the 1970s as Hanover’s street-art programme and carries public art through the city. Other works include Niki de Saint Phalle’s Nanas and Bernhard Heiliger’s Deus ex Machina.
The sculpture is also known as Stahl 17 87. Its broad stainless-steel geometry stands out among Hannover’s streets and surrounding buildings.
