Ohnsorg Theater
Ohnsorg Theater stands in Hamburg’s Bieberhaus, where performances in Low German connect the stage with northern German culture. The accessible venue welcomes audiences into a large foyer with modern acoustics. Comedies often unfold among farmers, fishermen, and merchants from northern Germany. Serious literature, musical theatre, and adaptations of international plays expand the programme beyond comedy.
Since 1902, the stage has promoted Plattdeutsch, a regional language spoken across northern Germany. Richard Ohnsorg founded the theatre as the Dramatische Gesellschaft Hamburg for Low German performances. Television broadcasts by Norddeutscher Rundfunk and ARD brought nationwide attention during the 1960s and 1970s. Heidi Kabel became a household name through those broadcasts and her connection with the theatre.
A move to the Bieberhaus in 2011 added modern technology while preserving the traditional character. Four hundred fourteen seats make the auditorium a substantial setting for Hamburg’s Low German theatre.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Hamburg. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
