Jardin des Plantes
Jardin des Plantes stands near Grasse’s historic centre, beside the Jean Honoré Fragonard Museum. Winding paths lead between large trees and water features.
Created in the mid-nineteenth century, the botanical garden offered healthy walks and an exotic atmosphere within the city. The railway reached Grasse in 1872. That connection encouraged longer stays for visitors seeking fresh air and a mild climate, while the planting changed with the city’s needs. Families now find Mediterranean and exotic species together, including citrus trees, olive trees, rose beds and umbrella pines.
Palm trees give the grounds a distinctive silhouette, from the European dwarf palm to the Canary Island date palm. Washingtonia filifera can reach 23 metres. Rare trees include ginkgo biloba and camphor, both originating in China, while Atlas cedar can grow to 40 metres. The garden also holds Aleppo pine, and its accessible paths invite a close look at every planting.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Grasse. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
