Hermann Wolf
In Dietzenbach, near Frankfurt, Hermann Wolf marks a Jewish history shaped by community life, war and persecution. Stolpersteine in front of the family home commemorate Hermann Wolf, his wife Emma and their children.
A Jewish community leader and successful cattle trader, he became one of the area’s wealthiest residents. During the First World War, military service earned him the Iron Cross, first class. Nazi persecution forced the family from Dietzenbach to Frankfurt in 1938. Their attempted escape continued in 1941, when they travelled towards the United States.
Typhus claimed Hermann Wolf’s life in Havana before he could reach safety. The Stolpersteine preserve his connection with the house where the family once lived.
