Sankt Michael

Sankt Michael stands in Lanstrop, a district of Dortmund, where its east-facing tower provides a visible landmark. The church serves the local community. Its architectural story began in 1898, when Lanstrop started holding services in a prayer hall within the Kirchspiel Kurl. The foundation stone followed on 6 October 1912, and consecration took place on 28 September 1913.

The interior combines a high altar from the building period with a painting by Sieger Köder. “Maria von Magdala am Ostermorgen” joined the church in 2003. Renovation during 1985 and 1986 gave the interior its present appearance, while the congregation developed groups, associations, and social projects locally and internationally. Since 1 January 2014, the church has belonged to the pastoral area Dortmund Nordost, linking it with neighbouring congregations. The east-facing tower remains the detail that first fixes the church within Lanstrop.
