Square Mérimée
Square Mérimée is a public square in Cannes, set directly opposite the Palais des Festivals. That building is the main venue of the annual film festival. When the festival runs, the square becomes a meeting point for attendees, industry professionals and the wider public. Outside festival season it remains public municipal space, open to residents and tourists alike.
The most prominent building is the Scandinavian House, a three-storey venue that doubles as festival headquarters for the Nordic film community. Since 2022 it has hosted events and networking sessions for professionals from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland. The same rooms hold press interviews, producer meetings and gatherings of the region's film institutes. The house succeeds the earlier Scandinavian Terrace and offers a new base for reaching international partners. The Nordic Film Commissions also use the space, supporting international productions keen to work with the Nordic countries.
Around the square, the Mediterranean restaurant La Bambola serves traditional dishes made with fresh ingredients. The restaurant's name nods to the Italian singer Patty Pravo, whose song evokes the glamour of the sixties and seventies. For personal care, the Melrose salon offers beard trims, classic shaves, facials and manicures. If your trip coincides with the festival, the Scandinavian House runs daily happy hours where collaborations take shape.
