Centre Iqraa
Centre Iqraa is a mosque in La Bocca, a district of Cannes on France’s Mediterranean coast. Its white exterior gives the building a clear presence within the neighbourhood. The building covers 800 square metres and contains a main prayer hall for 250 worshippers. It has neither a minaret nor a dome, keeping its architecture focused on a simple, functional form.
Construction began in 2007 with funding from Saudi donor Saleh Abdallah Kamel. David Lisnard, then mayor of Cannes, made the land available for the project. The mosque opened to the public in 2014 and received its official inauguration later that year. Its creation connects a local building project with the city’s Muslim community.
Daily prayers, religious festivals, and community activities bring local residents into the space. The mosque provides a setting for worship and gatherings in La Bocca. Its all-white facade remains the clearest detail of this restrained architectural landmark.
