كوبري قصر النيل

Qasr El Nil Bridge carries traffic across the Nile in central Cairo, linking the city centre with Gezira Island. Its steel span rises above calm water, while bronze lions stand at both ends with a steady, protective gaze.

The bridge opened in the early 1930s, replacing an iron crossing that had served since the nineteenth century. A British steel company built it, and one section could open to let ships pass. Over the decades, revolutions, celebrations, evening walks, and quiet meetings have filled the crossing with Cairo’s daily life.

At sunset, you can see city lights shimmer across the river beside the bronze lions.

Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Cairo. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.

What is myTuur?
