Campo de San Basegio
Campo de San Basegio is een openbaar plein in Venetië, waar het lokale woord campo naar verwijst. Het plein maakt deel uit van het dagelijkse ritme van de stad.
Venetië bestaat uit verschillende wijken, die elk hun eigen campos en herkenbare omgeving hebben. Rond deze pleinen staan vaak woningen, kleine winkels en soms kerken.
Een campo biedt ontmoetingsruimte in een stad met smalle straten, kanalen en bruggen. Buurtbewoners en bezoekers komen er samen.
Vanaf zulke plekken verbinden zijstraten, kleine bruggen en kanalen verschillende delen van Venetië. De open ruimte vormt een duidelijk contrast met het netwerk van kronkelende stegen.
Campo de San Basegio laat zien hoe openbare pleinen binnen Venetiaanse wijken functioneren. De omgeving geeft ruimte aan contact, spel en rust.
Waar grotere piazze vaak een formeel karakter hebben, horen campos bij de schaal van het dagelijks leven. Dit plein biedt zo een blik op Venetië buiten de bekendste drukke plekken.
