Stellwerk 8
Stellwerk 8 is an online assessment system used in Zurich schools to help secondary students understand their academic skills. The system covers mathematics, German, French, English, and science.
Its adaptive format changes question difficulty according to each student’s performance during the assessment. Students receive a profile showing strengths and areas that need further practice. Teachers and parents can use these results to discuss learning support and possible educational or vocational directions.
Mathematics and German form the central subjects, while students can select further areas according to interests and plans. French, English, and science offer additional subject choices. Science separates biology, physics, and chemistry, while language assessments examine listening, reading, and broader language skills.
Mathematics includes numbers, variables, shapes, space, sizes, functions, and data. Additional assessments address spatial thinking, technical and logical understanding, and personal, social, and methodological skills. Stellwerk 8 forms part of Lernpass Plus, which brings learning assessment and progress monitoring together.
Its results can be compared with requirements for different occupations and support decisions about apprenticeships or further study. Zurich schools use the system to connect classroom learning with students’ next steps after secondary education.
