Helvetiaplatz
Helvetiaplatz is a public square in Zurich’s Aussersihl district, where Langstrasse meets Stauffacherstrasse in district four. Its name refers to Helvetia, Switzerland’s national personification.
The square brings together a multicultural market, public demonstrations, football celebrations, festivals, restaurants, clubs, and cultural institutions. The fresh-produce market offers regional bread, cheese, flowers, and foods from international traditions.
Helvetiaplatz hosts gatherings connected with May Day, the Langstrassenfest, the Longstreet Carneval, and the Caliente Festival. FC Zürich supporters celebrated league victories at the square.
The Volkshaus stands on the square, offering a setting for concerts, parties, and other events. Kanzleiareal adds a schoolhouse, Kanzlei, and Xenix cinema and bar.
Xenix provides open-air cinema beside the square, alongside its alternative cinema and bar. A nearby parking garage and pharmacy add practical services.
