Catholic Parish Church of St Michael and St Anne’s Chapel

Kath. Pfarrkirche St. Michael und Annakapelle stands slightly above the market square in Germany, marked by a tower with five distinctive knobs. The present church replaced an older building on the same site between 1713 and 1732.

Inside, late Baroque altars from around 1730 share the space with white-painted lindenwood figures. Ceiling paintings by J. P. Herrlein meet stucco by P. Hellmuth from 1761, while a natural-wood pulpit from before 1700 preserves an earlier layer. Late Gothic figures of Saints Laurentius and Urban remain in the tower and former sacristy, and fourteenth-century fresco fragments appear along the nave’s south side.

The nearby Ölbergkapelle holds life-size eighteenth-century sandstone figures, while fifteenth-century St. Anna Chapel has a former ossuary below and underwent renovation in 1983. At the back, a passionskrippe presents the life of Jesus in fifteen stations, from the Annunciation to the Resurrection.
