Stadiumi Flamurtari

Stadiumi Flamurtari stands in Vlora, Albania, as a multi-use stadium centred on football. The all-seater stands surround the pitch, while a black-and-red western facade faces a plaza with a fountain.

Built in 1961, the ground first held about 6,500 spectators before an expansion raised capacity to around 11,000 in 1975. Renovations between 2004 and 2012 added new stands, seats, a parking area and floodlights, creating today’s capacity of about 8,200. A new pitch followed in February 2013, funded jointly by Flamurtari Vlorë and the Albanian Football Association. Other sports and events can take place here, although matches involving KS Flamurtari Vlorë remain its focus.

The most striking figure belongs to a 1987 UEFA Cup match against FC Barcelona, when 18,500 people filled the ground. That attendance remains the stadium’s record and recalls the crowds drawn during Flamurtari Vlorë’s late-1980s golden era.
