Albertina
Albertina stands in Vienna as a museum of modernist and contemporary art, with historic state rooms adding another layer to the visit. Inside, the Batliner Collection traces a path from Impressionism and Post-Impressionism through German Expressionism, New Objectivity and the Russian avant-garde.
Degas, Cézanne, Toulouse-Lautrec and Gauguin appear alongside Kokoschka, Egger-Lienz, Goncharova, Malevich and Chagall. Picasso brings together early Cubist works, paintings from the 1940s, prints and pieces from his experimental late period. Herbert Batliner entrusted the collection to Albertina in 2007, creating its first large permanent display for the public.
Temporary exhibitions extend the range from Renaissance drawings by Leonardo and Dürer to works by van Gogh, Jenny Saville, Damien Hirst and Francesca Woodman. Guided tours and programmes welcome adults, children and families, while digital resources open parts of the collection beyond Vienna.
