Enea
Enea by Ugo Attardi rises among trees and limestone in Malta’s Lower Barrakka Gardens. From the paths, you see its arms reaching east and west across the harbour.
The gesture recalls Aeneas, the Trojan hero who connects Greek and Latin culture through ancient mythology. Ugo Attardi chose this open setting himself after an alternative site below the Siege Bell Memorial raised concerns about the ground.
The statue remains visible to garden visitors, ships entering the harbour and people watching from the opposite shore. Knights of Saint John once tended these gardens, placing the modern sculpture among layers of Maltese history.
