Peter-und-Paul-Kirche
The Peter-und-Paul-Kirche stands in Jungingen, a district of Ulm, as an Evangelical parish church.
It belongs to the Evangelical State Church in Württemberg. The church is recognised as a cultural monument and presents a nave beside a chancel tower dating to 1499. An octagonal story crowns the tower above its clock and bells. Added in 1646, the story holds the clock and bell tower beneath a bell-shaped dome. Wall paintings from 1656 to 1658 fill the church interior. One painting depicts Martin Luther, linking the religious decoration to the post-Reformation period. The furnishings inside date from 1697 and 1698. The 1590 altarpiece on the altar depicts Calvary and adds a specific biblical scene to the interior. Georg Friedrich Schmahl built the organ in 1770. Together, the tower, paintings, furnishings, altarpiece and organ preserve several layers of church history in Jungingen. The church remains a local landmark in Jungingen, within Ulm.
