Alte Dorfkirche
Alte Dorfkirche stands in Ulm’s Gögglingen-Donaustetten district as a cemetery chapel. It was formerly the Roman Catholic parish church of St. Briccius. The building belongs to Heilig Kreuz parish within the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart and is recognised as a monument in Baden-Württemberg. Its surroundings place a former parish church within a cemetery setting.
The nave was extended westward between 1762 and 1768. The eastern choir closes on three sides. A choir flank tower rises against its north wall, with an octagonal upper storey beneath the bell dome. Three church bells hang below the mechanical clock, whose movement dates from around 1900.
Inside, a high altar carries Konrad Huber’s altarpiece of the Crucifixion. A Pietà from around 1750 to 1760 adds another distinctive work. The clock and bells share one tower, joining mechanical craft, sound and architecture in a single detail.
