Tschake-Brunnen

Tschake-Brunnen stands in Überlingen’s old town, where you encounter public art while walking through historic streets. A life-sized boy faces a life-sized jackdaw beside the water. Werner Gürtner created the sculpture, which captures a close moment between child and bird. You can approach the figures and inspect their details from nearby. The jackdaw belongs to Central Europe’s familiar birdlife and connects the scene with the local Alemannic culture.

The fountain was officially unveiled in 1957 and remains part of Überlingen’s cityscape. Its design brings together sculpture, water, regional wildlife and a dialect rooted in the surrounding area. Walking routes through the old town pass this small work of twentieth-century art. People stop here for photographs or pause briefly during their exploration. Look closely at the boy and jackdaw: their life-sized scale makes the encounter feel immediate.
