Adventgemeinde

Adventgemeinde is a squat concrete church on a corner, marked by a red-tiled pyramid roof and a modern brick entrance. A bright yellow former phone box outside now serves as a book exchange, where passers-by can leave or take a book.

Inside, diagonal rows of chairs face a platform in the corner, creating a setting for conversation rather than a distant audience. Saturday worship brings singing, prayer, Bible discussion, and often a shared meal, with German, Ukrainian, and other languages heard among people of varied backgrounds. Health seminars, language cafés, study groups, youth meetings, and choirs extend the community’s life beyond worship.

The congregation traces its beginnings to 1908 and has used this building since 2005. Its wheelchair-accessible spaces welcome visitors for gatherings shaped by rest, faith, and connection. One small detail captures that openness: the yellow book exchange stands outside, offering a story to anyone passing by.
