Telegrafbukta

Telegrafbukta occupies the island’s southern tip, close to the city, where lawns slope towards white sand and shoreline rocks. Pine trees shade paths, campfire clearings, and smooth boulders beside the water. Across the coast, clear days reveal the mountains of Malangen and Balsfjord beyond the bay.

Wheelchair-friendly trails connect benches, fitness stations, toilets, a playground, beach volleyball, and spaces for swimming or relaxing. Summer brings sunbathers, barbecues, and children to the beach and pier. Nearby, an open-air museum preserves older seaside houses, including Kvitnes farm, Stornaustet, Engenesnaustet, and Mortensnes farm.

Seasonal exhibitions and events link those buildings with local stories, while Bukta turns the park into a music festival each July. Winter brings northern lights to the pier and keeps Ishud’s Friday bathing tradition alive. A coastal walk from the centre follows water views, with bicycle racks and a small car park nearby.

Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Tromsø. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.

What is myTuur?

myTuur is a free city-guide app. Its tours are built from spots, and each spot carries a story that starts when you get there, to read or to listen to as you like.
