Sankt Jost - Bildstock

Sankt Jost - Bildstock is a small stone wayside shrine in Germany, with a solid form shaped by hand and weathered outdoors. Its structure follows the tradition of Bildstöcke placed beside roads and rural paths.

A niche holds space for a saint’s figure, a cross or a candle, while the shrine marks faith within an everyday route. Pilgrims, villagers and travellers could pause there for prayer, comfort or a moment of rest. Such monuments also marked crossroads, boundaries and places remembered by local communities.

The stone still stands as a quiet reminder of people who passed this way before, carrying devotion beyond the walls of larger churches.
