The Middle Way

The Middle Way is an installation in Timișoara by Romanian artist Bogdan Rața, shaped by contemporary sculpture and experimental materials. Its height is three and a half metres.

Rața’s hybrid realism multiplies fingers, ears, and other anatomical fragments into unfamiliar, creature-like forms. The sculpture looks recognisable and strange at once.

Polyester, polystyrene, synthetic resin, fibreglass, and industrial paint give the work an artificial, laboratory-like surface. Its industrial materials challenge familiar ideas about sculpture.

The installation measures three and a half metres high and one and a half metres wide. It reaches about sixty centimetres in depth.

Its repeated body parts raise questions about identity, individuality, and what it means to be human today. The forms can provoke surprise, confusion, or discomfort.

Rața uses familiar anatomy to examine how society shapes personality and uniqueness through consumption and commercial uniformity. The piece belongs to the Nasui Collection & Gallery.

The artist’s work combines reconstructed bodies, synthetic surfaces, and questions about contemporary human experience. Timișoara provides a setting where historical surroundings meet contemporary visual art.
